This tribute commemorates E.T. Barnette's accidental
landing at approximately this spot on the river
bank in 1901 and the begining of Fairbanks. As the city's
founding father, he became the richest man in town.
He left Fairbanks in 1911 after being accused of embezzling
$1 million from the Washington-Alaska
Bank.
