Statehood Monument

This monument was erected in 1990 to commemorate the
75th anniversary of Anchorage becoming a tent city,
as well as a nationwide centennial celebration of President
Eisenhower's birth. The monument also commemorates the
Alaska Statehood Act which was signed by President Eisenhower,
making Alaska the 49th state 1959.
