The Downtown Fairbanks Walking Tour

Odd Fellows Hall

This building housed the First Avenue Bathhouse from 1907 until 1910 when the pipes froze and burst. The bathhouse was owned by Mrs. Cora Madole, a fortune teller from Dawson City. Mrs. Madole's daughter-in-law, Clara Rust, helped her operate the bathhouse. Jo Anne Wold's book, This Old House, is the story of Clara's life here. The Golden North Rebekah Lodge purchased the building in 1963.
