The Downtown Fairbanks Walking Tour

Example of a "Grow-house"

This home is a wonderful example of a "grow-house." The original cabin has settled (see the backward slope of the logs?) the additions are very obvious. The following is a Fairbanks pioneer's definition of a "grow-house": A couple could live comfortably in the small square cabin, but as their family grew so did their home. Each new addition to the family brought with it an addition to the house
